United States: Moscow became the global center of attention when the Kremlin finally spoke to deny or approve the ceasefire agreement between Kyiv and the White House regarding Ukraine’s war.
More about the news
Ukraine accepted a thirty-day ceasefire established by American officials during Saudi-based negotiations on Tuesday, but Russia needs to endorse the measures.
Under the US strategy, it decided to resume military aid delivery to Ukraine while resuming discontinued intelligence exchange programs.
Russia now faces responsibility for making the next move after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio completed the Tuesday discussions.
The Kremlin issued a guarded statement regarding the development by insisting it required additional information about the ceasefire agreement from American negotiators before making a final determination about its acceptability.
What are the officials stating?
According to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked to comment on the proposed truce, “You are jumping the gun; we have contacts scheduled with the Americans, and then we’ll see,” cnbc.com reported.
Furthermore, “We are carefully studying the statements made as a result [of the talks], we will familiarize ourselves with the text of the joint statement which was adopted in Jeddah. We proceed from the fact that, as was said yesterday in Jeddah, Secretary of State Rubio and National Security Advisor Waltz will inform us via various channels these days about the details of the negotiations that took place and the understandings reached [there],” he noted.
The Kremlin official Peskov left open the possibility for Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump about this matter.
“If such a need arises, it will be organized very quickly. The existing channels for dialogue with the Americans allow this to be done rather swiftly,” he continued, as cnbc.com reported.
The Trump administration represented a warmer period between Moscow and Washington than the Biden era, which caused Russia to show optimism.
The relationship between Washington DC and Kyiv Deferred Implementation since February exploded into an intense verbal dispute between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The restored US-Ukraine diplomatic connections and military support apply full pressure on Russia to demonstrate its dedication to ending the war.
