United States – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggests that he will consider building camps for migrants illegally in the country, in the United States if he is re-elected for a second White House term, according to Time magazine, the content was released on Tuesday.
Deportation Strategy
Trump was inquired if he would construct new camps in the course of implementing the largest population removal amounting to hundreds of thousands of people from the country unlawfully, as reported by Reuters.
“I would not rule out anything,” Trump said. “But there wouldn’t be that much of a need for them” because, he said, the plan is to deport migrants in the U.S. illegally back to their home countries as quickly as possible.
“We’re not leaving them in the country,” Trump said. “We’re bringing them out.”
Trump has made incursions at the U.S.-Mexico border the pillar of his campaign to be re-elected for the second four-year term as the President a Democrat. Immigration is an issue that voters place at the fore. According to the national polls, it is number one.
Use of National Guard
Trump noted that National Guard troops would be helpful in his deportation efforts, but he did not definitively say whether to utilize active military forces.
“I don’t think I’d have to do that. I think the National Guard would be able to do that. If they weren’t able to, then I’d use the military,” he said.
One question directed at Trump concerned the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, a post-Civil War statute that forbade the use of force against civilians.
“Well, these aren’t civilians. These are people that aren’t legal in our country. This is an invasion of our country,” Trump said.
Border Issues
On Monday, Biden and his Mexican counterpart, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, mentioned that their administrations are going to take steps soon to reduce the illegal crossing at the southern border while also addressing the economic and security problems that trigger people to migrate.
The President has disdained immigrants found in the United States illegally, stating they are “animals” when he refers to alleged gruesome crimes and “poisoning the blood of our country”. This terminology is representative of his xenophobic views, and his thoughts reminds us of the Nazi’s language, as reported by Reuters.
Against the comments, Trump has said that he was not aware of the fact that the German dictator Adolf Hitler employed similar language.
