Trade War to Conflict? China Ready for ‘Any War’ with US

United States: China warned the United States it will engage in combat across “any type” as President Donald Trump imposed growing import tariffs against the country.

More about the news

The top two economic powers have moved toward trade war positions because President Trump applied new tariffs against all Chinese trade items.

China reacted assertively through product tariffs that reached between ten percent (10%) and fifteen percent (15%) on US agricultural goods.

As per China’s embassy statement on X, “If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end,” BBC News reported.

China launched its strongest political statements against President Trump since he took office during the National People’s Congress meetings in Beijing.

What more has China stated?

During his Wednesday address, Premier Li Qiang announced that China would double down on raising its military budget by 7.2 percent this fiscal year.

The increase aligns precisely with the growth projection that was previously revealed in the preceding year.

Chinese leaders present their economic self-assurance that the economy will thrive despite facing potential trade war conditions in the Chinese nation.

China seeks to project itself as a nation that stands against the reported “wars in the Middle East and Ukraine” while facing off against the United States’ declared status as a war-torn country.

The Chinese government appears hesitant to escalate trade conflict due to Trump’s current tariff policies aimed at Mexico and Canada since they want to maintain attractive political opportunities with new global partners.

Beijing is to increase military spending by more than 7% this year

During his Beijing speech on Tuesday, the Premier declared that China would maintain its economic openness by welcoming additional foreign investments, BBC News reported.

China has historically notified the world that it is willing to take up arms. President Xi demanded troops enhance their war readiness through drills near the self-governing Taiwanese island in October last year.

Military preparedness stands apart from the same value as war readiness.

Furthermore, the Chinese embassy in Washington’s Post quoted a foreign ministry, “The fentanyl issue is a flimsy excuse to raise US tariffs on Chinese imports.”

“Intimidation does not scare us. Bullying does not work for us. Pressuring, coercion, or threats are not the right way of dealing with China,” a foreign ministry spokesperson added.
