United States: A recent analysis by Executive Vice President Noah Wall of the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF) suggests that the recent trend of urban crosswalks being painted in colors associated with Pride is more likely the result of the work of a national LGBTQ activist group than random decisions made by local governments.

Wall noted the increase in rainbow “pride” crosswalks appearing on Monday in American communities on X (previously Twitter). He commented, “I decided to do some research as I haven’t seen sufficient explanation as to why it’s happening.”

“Most of the news about these crosswalks has been about municipalities conducting manhunts to track down people who commit ‘hate crimes’ by leaving skid marks over them,” he noted.

Matt Walsh knocks this topic out of the park.

He continued by explaining that the Municipal Equality Index (MEI) is a “less well known program” of the left-wing Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The initiative monitors a city’s adherence to the principles of the LGBTQ movement.

The MEI’s “goal is to make local governments the leading edge of the ‘Queer’ agenda,” Wall clarified.

He stated that “cities need to push the envelope of their authority—to go beyond what the state allows them to do”—for local governments to receive a perfect grade.

He shared a screenshot of what looks to be an HRC report discussing the program’s tenth edition, which was first made available in 2021.

The study specifically includes painting “rainbow-striped crosswalks” as a measure that can raise a city’s MEI ranking.

Wall also shared a screenshot of the report, which indicated that a city’s MEI score might increase by 10 points if it established an “LGBTQ+ Liaison/Task Force” within the police department.

Another screenshot Wall shared indicated that a community could get an extra five points if its mayor’s office employed an “LGBTQ+ liaison.”

“In sum, if you see your city government advancing the queer agenda, it likely is because of the HRC,” Wall concluded on X. “It’s definitely not organic.”

According to his X bio, Wall is the executive director of SFOF Action and vice president for policy and government affairs at SFOF.

“To drive fiscally sound public policy, by partnering with key stakeholders, and educating Americans on the role of responsible financial management in a free market economy,” reads the mission statement on the SFOF website.
