King Abdullah found himself in an awkward predicament during the Trump meeting on Tuesday.
The uninterrupted diplomatic relationship between the US and Jordan has faced pressure from Trump as he persistently demanded Jordan receive Palestinian refugees from Israeli military operations in Gaza since October 2023.
The United States has declared that it will both become owner and proprietor of Gaza after removing its population in what experts call an instance of “ethnic cleansing.”
Trump stated, “It’s not a complex thing to do,” “With the United States being in control of that piece of land — that fairly large piece of land — you’re going to have stability in the Middle East for the first time,” Aljazeera reported.
About the refusal of Jordan
The refusal of Jordan and Egypt exists regarding the acceptance of forced Palestinian population transfers.
The recent Gaza ceasefire remains precarious at the time of Abdullah’s political summit. The Israeli government developed a scheduled threat to resume bombing on Saturday due to remarks from Trump while waiting for Hamas to free its hostages by Saturday.
During the meeting, Abdullah did not challenge Trump openly but suggested that Egypt was planning to introduce another solution soon.
Important points were discussed during the meeting between Abdullah and Trump.
The journalists inside the Oval Office questioned Trump about his statements about US control of Gaza alongside the initiative to move Palestinian residents elsewhere without return rights.
Following the takeover of Gaza by the US, the nation would initiate reconstruction efforts in the region.
As Trump added, “We’re going to take it. We’re going to hold it. We’re going to cherish it. We’re going to get it going eventually where a lot of jobs are going to be created for the people in the Middle East,” without giving specifics.
The proposal includes moving Palestinian people who have lived there for numerous generations, including many who became refugees after Israel was formed into areas designated by Egypt and Jordan.
Trump reinforced his threats to dissolve the Israel ceasefire through a declaration that the Palestinian leadership must free all Israeli captives within the next four days.
“I don’t think they’re going to make the deadline, personally,” Trump stated.
“They want to play tough guy. We’ll see how tough they are,” he continued.
