United States: Republicans in the U.S. Congress tried for the third time to stop a government shutdown, with only hours left to actually make a deal. Two previous plans had failed because President-elect and also Donald Trump and other Republican members didn’t agree with them. Republican Representative Ralph Norman saiid party leaders would hold a vote on a new spending bill but didn’t give details.

Some said they would not attempt to woo Demo-crats who’s backing almost certainly will be required for an extension of the money beyond late Friday night (0500 GMT Saturday).

” We’re not working with Democrats,” Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna.

If Congress cannot agree on a spending package, everything from police forces to parks will be affected and millions of federal workers will not be paid.

As reported by Reuters, officials expressed concern that millions of passengers during the end-of-the-year holidays might endure hours-long waits in terminals for flights. White House sources reported that the White House has provided Federal departments the heads up to prepare for shut down.

The last time the federal government shut down was for 35 days previously during Trump’s first presidency over a disagreement on the construction of a wall on the Mexican border.

Republicans could unbundle attributes that were formerly bundled together, insiders said. That might lead to separate votes by the House on funding the government through March and on disaster aid plus a farm subsidy program set to expire at year end.

Although it was still unclear whether the House will also consider Trump’s request to increase the debt ceiling, a challenging task he set for Congress before his inauguration on January 20.

But the state’s top Republicans refused to disclose specifics saying, ‘We have a plan,’ House speaker Mike Johnson told reporters. In that one we get to hear, “We’re expecting votes this morning.”

“I have spoken with Mr. Johnson recently, but I have not reviewed the latest Republican plan prepared for the House,” House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said.

This would be the third such try for Johnson, who experienced his first two packages – a bipartisan deal cut with the Democrats who still occupy the Senate and the White House – fail on Wednesday after Trump and Elon Musk, the billionaire offering advice to the erratic president tore into him online.
