United States – President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign fundraising in April fell short of rival Donald Trump for the first time this year after the former president’s campaign and the Republican National Committee intensified their joint efforts and led major fundraisers.
Trump’s Record-Breaking April Collection
Specifically, the Biden campaign and DNC collected at leas USD 51.5 million for April, which is considerably less than the 90 million the team managed to collect in March and below the USD 75.7 million that Trump and the Republicans got for the month, as reported by Reuters.
Democrat candidates still had more money in the bank relative to Trump, and the Biden campaign held a significantly larger war chest.
Donald Trump secured the Republican nomination in March and can raise money with the RNC which his daughter in law sits on.
This was making his April collection hit a record high of USD 50.5 million, which was made during an event with the donors at the beginning of the month at the billionaire home of John Paulson in Palm Beach, Florida. Paulson has been considered by Trump for the position of Treasury secretary designation.
This event proved crucial for Trump, who was constantly outspent by Biden and forced to spend money on lawyers and compensation following his criminal and civil lawsuits.
Trump’s Save America committee filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, which revealed more than USD 3.3 million in legal expenses throughout the month.
The Trump campaign said in a statement its April fundraising was “especially remarkable when you consider he has been confined to a courtroom for nearly 9 hours a day over the past four weeks fighting against Biden’s Trial.”
Trump’s campaign told the public in March that they wouldn’t be able to raise as much money as Biden does in 2020. Trump emerged as the president of America during the 2016 presidential elections even though Clinton campaign had more financial resources.
Biden constitutes a threat to Trump in national polls though there is still more than five months before the election scheduled for November 5, other polls portray Trump in a better position in the swing states. Especially on matters of the pocket, more voters trust Trump than Biden on economic affairs such as inflation.
WAR CHESTS
Biden’s campaign declared the balance which showed that Biden’s campaign had approximately USD 84 million in cash on hand as of the end of April to Federal Election Commission. The Trump campaign disclosed that it had USD 49 million, while the Clinton campaign again had much more – USD 150 million.
The Biden campaign has been able to launch significant advertising campaigns in swing states; this has been made possible by a large amount of money, more commonly referred to as a war chest, observed Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager. She added that together with the DNC and other entities, Biden had USD 192m by the end of April.
The Biden camp stated in the early hours of Tuesday that April was a record-breaking month in terms of repeat donors, who gave the campaign over USD 5.5 million during the particular month only, as are revealed by data obtained from the concerned organization. It declared that over 225,000-plus donors had pledged to contribute every month, which was stated to be greater than 1. Five times this much at the beginning of the 2020 cycle.
It raised even more in March with the State of the Union address, followed by fundraising through eight swing states and a special event with former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama held at Radio City Music Hall, New York, which brought in USD 26 million, as reported by Reuters.
Biden’s Record-Breaking Support
